Ice Lab Singapore Review

Ice Lab Singapore Review: The Popular Korean Desserts Place – 2024 Update

Which girl would say no to cute 오빠-s (oppa-s) and delicious Korean desserts? Definitely not me! And I’ve got just the place for you—a trendy Korean desserts café located at Orchard Shopping Centre, called Ice Lab.

Ice Lab Review

Ice Lab is a Korean desserts café that specializes in 빙수 (Bingsu)—the famous Korean shaved ice dessert—along with churros and Korean toasts. It was opened by none other than Korean comedian Shin Jung Hwan. I had no idea how popular the owner was until I saw clips of the cast from Running Man, Return of Superman, and other Korean idols congratulating him on opening the café. So, it’s not just a dessert spot—it’s a bit of a Korean pop culture experience too!

And, about those cute oppas… I’ve spotted a couple on both of my visits to Ice Lab, so meeting these charming guys is another (very legit!) reason for my return visits (aside from trying more of their desserts, of course) ㅋㅋㅋㅋ.

The Menu: Special Bingsu and More

When you take a look at Ice Lab’s menu, you’ll notice some unique Bingsu options like Soymilk Bingsu and Yogurt Bingsu. If you’re looking for healthier dessert choices, these are definitely great options! The Bingsu here isn’t overly sweet, which I love, and it’s light enough that you don’t feel overly full afterward.

Price-wise, Ice Lab’s Bingsu starts from $18 for a small portion, which is comparable to other Bingsu places in Singapore. However, I’d say the quality here is much better. The flavors are more balanced, and you get that perfectly soft, fluffy ice that’s a trademark of good Bingsu.

Churros and Korean Toast: My Faves

Aside from Bingsu, I couldn’t resist trying the churros—and let me tell you, they were amazing. The churros had the perfect crispy exterior and a soft, chewy inside. Honestly, they were so good on their own that I didn’t even need extra toppings, which means you can save a bit and indulge in other menu items instead!

I also tried their Korean Toast, which was similar to a classic French toast but with a twist. When I picked up my toast, one of the kitchen staff told me it was his favorite item on the menu—and after the first bite, I could see why! The toast had perfectly crispy golden edges and a fluffy, slightly eggy center. It wasn’t too dry or soggy, striking the perfect balance. It’s now one of my favorites too.

What’s Next on My List?

There’s one menu item I haven’t tried yet—the roasted sweet potato. It’s apparently another crowd favorite, so I’ll definitely be heading back to give that a try. Fingers crossed my cute oppa will still be there when I return! 💖

A Tip for Your Visit

One piece of advice if you plan to visit Ice Lab: try to go during off-peak hours to avoid the long queues. Trust me, the wait can get pretty intense during peak times!

Till next time, Ice Lab. I’ll definitely be back for more delicious desserts—and maybe a little eye candy too! 😉
