Ice Lab Singapore Review

Ice Lab Singapore Review: The Popular Korean Desserts Place

Which girl would say no to cute 오빠-s (oppa-s) and tasty Korean desserts? Definitely not me. And I just happen to know a place that has both! It is none other than the newly-opened Korean desserts cafe located at Orchard Shopping Centre, called Ice Lab.

Ice Lab Review

The cafe, specializing in 빙수 (Bingsu – Korean shaved ice dessert), churros and Korean toasts, was opened by a Korean comedian called Shin Jung Hwan. I did not realise how popular the owner was until I saw a video clip of casts from Running Man and Return of Superman, plus some other Korean idols congratulating him for opening a new cafe.

Going back to the cute 오빠, I spotted two of them on both of my visits to Ice Lab. So meeting these cute 오빠-s is actually another (very legit!) reason for my repeat visits (as well as trying the other menu items, of course) ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

When you look at Ice Lab’s menu, you would immediately realise that some of their Bingsu are pretty special, such as Soymilk Bingsu and Yogurt Bingsu. Definitely better options for those who prefer healthier desserts :)

The prices are also quite comparable to the other Bingsu places in Singapore (starting from $18 for a small portion). However, I would say the Bingsu at Ice Lab are way better than their counterparts elsewhere. They are not as sweet and do not make you feel overly-satiated as well!

Besides Bingsu, I also tried their churros and it was uh-mazing. The thickness and texture of the churros was just nice – they were crispy on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside :) The churro was good even without the additional toppings, so you can scrimp on that and splurge on some of the other items on the menu!

Another dessert that I tried was the Korean Toast, which was actually very similar to a typical French toast.

When I picked up my toast from the collection counter, one of the the kitchen crew told me that it was actually his favourite item. After having the first bite, I could totally understand why he said so. The toast, while having perfectly-crispy golden edges, was very fluffy! It was a bit more eggy compared to the usual French toasts, but it was neither too dry nor too soggy so that was great! :)

I have yet to try another favourite item on the menu – the roasted sweet potato – so definitely going back to try it next time! :) And I hope on my next visit, my cute oppa is still there <3 hahaha.. One suggestion if you plan to visit Ice Lab: try to come during odd hours to avoid the long queue! :)

Till next time Ice Lab.
