Even after a couple years, Seminyak is still the hippest area in Bali, the go-to ‘hood for all things hipster and fashionable. During our most recent Bali trip, we visited a handful of the relatively newer establishments and cafes in Seminyak. If you’ve been to all the usual suspects and are looking for where else to go in Seminyak, this list is for you!
Cafes in Seminyak, Bali
1. Nalu Bowls
If you’re looking for a healthy breakfast or dessert option, look no further than Nalu Bowls in Seminyak. Tucked away in a small alley off the main Seminyak thoroughfare, this hole-in-the-wall joint dishes up tasty acai bowls that are all the rage these days, and they are healthy to boot.
We ordered the Mavericks – Nalu Bowls’ secret acai blend, with granola, bananas, strawberries, coconut flakes, honey, and toffee. O loves Acai bowls and this was probably one of the best Acai bowls that she has ever tried so far. Don’t come too late because they close quite early by Seminyak standards!
Nalu Bowls, Seminyak Address: Jl. Drupadi 1 No.2A, Seminyak, 80361 Opening hours: Mon - Sun 7.30AM - 6PM Website: https://nalubowls.com
2. Mad Pops Ice Cream
What’s better to help you brave the Bali heat than a scoop (or two, or three…) of ice cream? A new kid on the block, Mad Pops serves up mean coconut-based, dairy-free ice cream and vegan popsicles. They also pride themselves in using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.
The ice cream is super refreshing, and we particularly like the unique texture: a cross between normal ice cream and shaved ice. The shop doesn’t really have sitting space except for a small bench outside, so get a scoop or a popsicle to take away and savour it while exploring the streets of Seminyak!
Mad Pops Ice Cream Address: Jl. Kayu Aya No.48, Seminyak, Kuta Opening hours: Mon - Sun 11AM - 10PM Website: http://madpopsbali.com/
3. Dough Darlings
Dough Darlings is arguable the most Instagrammed donuts in the whole of Indonesia, and for good reason. These tasty treats are super pretty! Originally only available for online orders in the Greater Jakarta area, Dough Darlings recently opened up a permanent cafe in Seminyak.
The donuts taste best when they’re fresh off the oven – the texture is just the right mix of soft and chewy. The cafe also serves up a rotating menu of daily donut flavours, so check back in on different days to try your luck!
There’s minimal sitting space inside, but when we visited on a Sunday afternoon it was quite empty, so we could sit around and enjoy our donuts. If you’re in the area, Dough Darlings is definitely worth a visit 😉
Dough Darlings Address: Jl.Petitenget No.22, Seminyak, Kuta Utara Opening hours: Mon - Sun 8AM - 9PM Website: http://doughdarlings.com/
