Looking for a place away from the crowd where you can relax and chill somewhere around Perth? Check out Empire Retreat Yallingup, which is located a 3-hour drive away from the city.
Empire Retreat Yallingup
Located in the town of Yallingup, Empire Retreat is a really lovely property. Not only is this retreat nestled within 265 acres of tranquil, undisturbed bush land and vineyard, it is also set amongst the spectacular scenery of the Margaret River region. Empire Retreat Yallingup brands itself as a boutique hotel, but I like to think of it more as a lodge or an estate, or perhaps a luxury bed-and-breakfast.
The estate has different types of rooms you can choose from – Loft Suite, Deluxe Balcony Suite, Studio, Luxury Villa, etc. The property also has communal living and dining rooms, as well as a ranch and its very own vineyard. It’s basically the perfect Western Australian retreat just a few hours out of Perth 😉
I scheduled my arrival at the retreat for 3 pm, as they only allow check-ins between 2 – 5 pm. I was pleasantly surprised at how fast and easy the check-in process was. During check-in, the staff also gave very detailed information about the estate, ensuring that I had everything in order for my stay. I really loved the staff at Empire Retreat. They certainly went above and beyond to assist the customers 🙂
One thing to note, though: the front desk staff is only around until 5 pm, so if you need them at anytime after that, you need to call or text them. From my experience, thanks to the comprehensive check-in briefing (haha), I didn’t really need their help with anything else throughout my stay. I only texted Cameron, the front desk staff, once – to confirm my dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant, Little Fish, which by the way was amazing. If you’re making plans to stay at Empire Retreat Yallingup, I’d highly recommend booking a table for dinner at Little Fish too, located just a 10-minute drive away from the estate.
The Courtyard Suite at Empire Retreat Yallingup
I booked the Courtyard Suite for my stay this time round. It is located on the lower level of the farmhouse and it features a private courtyard entrance. Plus, it also comes with a bathtub in the room. Perfect! Just what I needed.
As usual, I checked multiple sites before booking my suite and I found out that the price on Agoda.com was the cheapest among all. So before booking any room, do check the price across all OTA (Online Travel Agency) websites such as Agoda, Booking, Expedia, etc. You never know what deals you can come across!
Breakfast at Empire Retreat
Now, this is definitely my favourite part of the retreat – the dining room. I mean, look at the scenery that you will get to enjoy from the dining room!
The breakfast at Empire Retreat was amazing! It was simple, but really good! They served the usual western-style breakfast like cereal, eggs (any way you like it), pastries, bread, cheese, hams and fruits! My favourite was the yogurt – it was perfectly smooth, not tart and with just the right level of creaminess.
The Estate at Empire Retreat Yallingup
Another highlight of the stay was definitely getting to walk around the estate and different parts of the property. The living rooms were wonderful and boasted open fireplaces. I remember chilling by the fireplace in the middle of the night, listening to soothing songs. It was super relaxing!
Or if you are more of an outdoors person, you can also walk around the vineyard and the ranch, where you can meet Mr. Sheep and Mr. Horse! 🙂
