If there is one thing that Singapore will never be short of, it is definitely the list of cafes or restaurants to visit. Despite the “infinite” number of cafes, we often find ourselves confused in choosing which cafes to go to. Recently, I visited a cafe called Humpback Singapore and honestly, I’d easily nominate it as the best brunch in Singapore.
Best Brunch in Singapore – Humpback Singapore
Located in one of my favourite areas in the city, Humpback Singapore is nestled in one of the shophouses along Bukit Pasoh Road. To spot the cafe, just look for the pastel blue whale sign on the pillar 🙂
The cafe itself is bright, cozy and vibrant. I can definitely sit there all day. Unfortunately, brunch is only available every Sunday from 11AM to 3PM. But not to worry – Humpback is also open for dinner from 5PM to 12AM on weekdays, and 5PM to 11PM on Saturdays.
Food at Humpback Singapore
Describing itself as “your great neighborhood seafood restaurant”, Humpback offers fresh oysters, oh-so-good alaskan crab sandwich, delicious egg dishes, more seafood dishes, and the list goes on!
For Sunday brunch, there is happy hour for the oysters so instead of paying for an oyster at $7 apiece, now you only need to pay $3! Sweet! Another reason to visit Humpback for brunch 😉
The restaurant has a selection of four oysters, and I thought since it was only $3 each, why not try each one of them and see which one I liked the most, right? I found out I love Eld Inlet the most! I thought it was clean, fresh and not too creamy – very satisfying!
Probably my favourite dish from Humpback was the Alaskan Crab Sandwich. Chunks of juicy crabmeat placed on top of super soft toasted bread, drizzled with oil and a squeeze of lime juice. I can’t emphasize enough how much I love this dish from Humpback – maybe because I’m a huge fan of crab too so I might be biased here ;).
The next dish I had was the heavenly, creamy and delicate Burrata cheese placed on top of a sourdough with salsa verde dressing. I thought this dish was not too bad, but personally, I prefer eating burrata with bread / cracker without any dressing on it 🙂
I hardly order Fish & Chips in Singapore because they are usually very greasy, and ordering a portion of fish & chips would be too much. However, Humpback does both small and large plates of the fish & chips, so I went for the small serving to try it out.
I liked how the fish batter was not greasy. It was actually not as crispy as how I expected it to be, but taste wise, it was yummy! The best part of the dish was definitely the garlic aeoli 🙂
Overall, I really loved the Sunday brunch at Humpback and I’ve been recommending it to everyone I know 😉 Now, we all know where to go this weekend, don’t we?
